Meet Bitcasa, a tech start-up that aims at providing a user, unlimited storage to store documents, movies and other files..

Bitcasa provides a huge list of cool new features and is a worthy competitor to DropBox.

How is Bitcasa different from DropBox?
Bitcasa is different from DropBox as follows:
  1. Bitcasa gives you an option to skip storing files or folders on your local computer. You can store files or folders on the cloud and save your local disk space.
  2. Bitcasa gives you 15 GB of storage initially, compared to DropBox which gives you 2 GB.   Update: Bitcasa gives you infinite storage in the finite folder, compared to DropBox which gives you 2 GB. (Thanks Anonymous for pointing it out in comments section).
  3. Bitcasa gives you an option of choosing what files or folders you want on your mobile device.
The heart of Bitcasa: How it actually works?

Whenever you add a new folder to Bitcasa client,  it asks you to categorize it in below categories:
  1. Infinite: The folder is not present on your computer and though it appears to be present locally it is  stored on Bitcasa's servers. You cannot access it if you are offline.
  2. Sync: The folder appears on all your mobile devices. Also you can access it offline.
  3. Safe and Secure:  Just like DropBox.
The Good :

  1. Space : Almost close to being unlimited. Much more than DropBox and Google Drive
  2. Versioning : Yes it does support different versions of the same file in the web version. Dropbox asks for money to support this feature.
The Bad :

  1. No native apps for Android and iPhone : You can access the folders on your mobile using the web interface. There are no Bitcasa apps on google Play and AppStore.
  2. Learning curve: You need some time to figure out how to use Bitcasa.

Where did you get the "15 GB of storage initially"? It is infinite storage.

Ahh, That 14.39 storage is how much is currently used, not how much you get total.

I'm assuming that was the Sample Videos folder? They start you off with that shared folder so you can test out streaming video from an infinite folder without having to upload anything of your own first.
