How to customize Windows XP for free

Microsoft Windows XP is the most widely used operating system today. However compared to Linux it allows very few customizations to its GUI (Graphical User Interface).

To address this problem, the engineers at  Microsoft have developed a cool power-toy called Tweak UI that allows you to customize many things of your operating system.

To download this Tweak UI tool for free go to this link: Powertoys For Windows XP. After install launch this tool from the start menu. It is present under all programs, Powertoys for Xp.

  1. Under the My Computer options, select Templates.  
  2. Make sure that for the options you want, the check-box is selected. 
  3. To remove any options just un-check the checkbox for that option. 
  4. Remember to press OK and select Apply.
