Facebook Connect now on YouTube

Google recently introduced the Facebook Connect button on YouTube.
Has the search giant given up on its own project Google Friend Connect?


What is Facebook connect?
Facebook connect allows users to connect their Facebook account with any partner website using a trusted authentication method. It means that you can login to any site using Facebook Connect.

Google has its own version called Google Connect which allows users with either Google, Twitter or OpenId accounts to log in to partner websites. The project really never took off.

By allowing Facebook Connect Google has confirmed that it is now willing to partner with other websites to improve its own.

Facebook Connect has grown rapidly and is already available on major websites like Digg and Billboard.
