A new update (2.12.304) on the WhatsApp app for android devices allows users to take backups on Google Drive.
So next time you lose or format your phone, you can easily get back pictures, videos and chats you shared with your friends on WhatsApp.
How to backup pictures, chats and videos on Google Drive in WhatsApp?
- After you open WhatsApp, go to Settings and select Chats and calls
- Select Chat backup option, here you can select the Backup to Google Drive option

Note: If you don't have this option, then you don't have this update 2.12.304. You can still backup to your local phone storage for backups.
