How to update various social networks using Feedburner

The FeedBurner Socialize service makes it easy to distribute your content on the internet.

Currently it only provides support for twitter, but more social networks are expected to follow.

This article gives detailed steps to enable the Socialize service in FeedBurner.

To activate this service, go to your FeedBurner account, and click the Publicize Tab.

Click on the the Socialize service.

Click on the Add a Twitter account button which you can see at the right.

You will be redirected back to FeedBurner.

(FeedBurner automatically truncates the messages to 140 characters, if it violates the 140 character limit as set by Twitter.)

Select the checkbox for leave room for retweets and also select create hash tags from item categories.

What is retweet?
Retweet is nothing but tweeting tweets of somebody else. This is done to show content / tweet which you found useful.

What are hash tags?
Hash tags are used by Twitter to tag or group tweets for use by various Twitter clients.
This allows easy sorting and grouping of tweets.

If you have a Blogger blog, the labels will act as the hash tags. For web CMS (content management systems),they are nothing but categories.
